We did it! We finally got up the nerve to move MB to a big girl bed. We haven't picked out an actual bed yet but we decided to go for it since we were given the mattresses last night. We put the mattress on the floor next to her crib, just in case we needed to move her in the middle of the night. Just like she normally does, she did amazingly well! We have been talking with her for a while about how she was going to get to sleep in a big bed and have been telling her how exciting it was going to be. There were some rules that we went over for a day or two before and it worked the first night and nap so our fingers are crossed. She did not get out of the bed once and she called for me this morning and afternoon when she woke up, we couldn't believe it! She loves the bed and keeps running back to her room to check it out. When she first climbed in, she kept saying "more animals, more animals" so we piled them on. She immediately wanted everything out of her crib so she could get her new bed organized. I was even sitting on the bed and she said "mama off". The nerve! We put her down last night and never heard another peep. We checked on her about 45 minutes after she went down and she was quietly talking to Baby Bop but she was still under the covers. I checked on her around 11pm (my first bathroom break of the night) and she was out cold. When she called me into her room this morning, she was sitting up in the bed but was still under the covers. Shocking!
Here are some pictures that we took. This is one step towards her having more independence and us getting ready for the new fella arriving in six weeks or so. Yikes! Now we just have to tackle potty training and starting "school" one day a week in August.
Hang on MB, it is going to be a wild ride over the next few months! Thanks for being such a champ and always amazing us with how you handle changes!

Dear Mary Beth,
ReplyDeletePlease come to our house and explain this process to Winlon.
love,
Camila
Way to go Mary Beth! A big girl bed definitely means more room for animals and snugglies at night!
ReplyDeleteYay, Mary Beth! That is a huge accomplishment! We moved Annabelle about 3 weeks ago, and it has been so nice to lay in bed with her and read books/snuggle! I am with you on the potty training and "school" starting in a few weeks. I know it will be great, but I am so nervous about sending her...how are you feeling about it? Hope you are feeling good!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome!!! Glad y'all had such a great experience too!!! Our kids always amaze us, don't they? :) Love you!
