Finally!!!

We are finally going to be able to bring our son Joseph home!  We leave in nine days to travel to China to meet him and make him a Milam forever!  Please pray for us all as we adjust to each other and pray specifically for Joseph as it will be the biggest change for him!

Six Years!

June 30th marked six years with this firecracker!  She is compassionate, strong willed, creative, hilarious, smart as a whip, independent and beautiful inside and out. I'm proud to call her mine!!!  There have been many hard moments and days in the gaps between these pictures but the joy and the good far outweigh them.  Thanks for making me a mom MB!  The birthday sign pics are still going strong.

Apple pickin fun!

My sister came into town for a weekend this fall and we decided to take the kids apple picking at Mercier's.  My grandparents visited Mercier's every year when they would camp at Vogel State Park in the fall so it always brings back good memories.  The weather was perfect and we ate our way through the orchard.  Fortunately, we got there right when they opened so we were able to avoid some of the crowd.  You could eat as many apples as you wanted and we think Ben sampled about a dozen.  They had a tiny petting zoo and pony rides that the kids loved.  Another favorite part was the fried pies!  When MB was about half way through her fried pie, she looked up and said "this is the best day ever!"  We ended the trip with a stop at Poole's BBQ in Elijay.  Such a great Saturday!!!

Clash Soccer!

Mary Beth has been wanting to try out soccer for a while so we caved this fall and let her give it a shot.  It was soooooo hot when they started and after her first game, she said that she hoped she would get sick on Thursday so she wouldn't have to go to her next game.  Ha!  Not the best way to start a season but she totally got the hang out if and by the end, she may have even enjoyed it.  I think her favorite part was having her daddy as coach and getting her own purple soccer ball.  She ended the season with four goals and some new friends.  Enjoy the photos!

Ben is THREEEEEE!

The little fella turned 3 and is proving to not be so little anymore!  We did a small family party and it was one of the easiest parties that I have done and he had a ball.  We kept the focus on the cake and the present and the rest of the details were secondary.  :-)  I took Ben to Publix to pick out his cake and he was so excited about it!  He has been talking about his cake since MB's birthday when he tried to talk her into getting a tractor cake.  Ben has been wanting to ride MB's bike for weeks now but he can't reach the pedals so we got a bike that is just his size.  He hopped on it and took off.  He loves it and is always asking to go riding.

 

His actual birthday fell on a Wednesday so work interfered but he still had a great day.  He picked out donuts the day before and was excited to blow out candles again.  He picked chick-fil-a for supper and then dessert at Brewsters.  I don't think we have been there in several years because I didn't realize that kids under a certain height get a free cone covered in sprinkles.  He was so excited!  It was sticky and sweet, just like he likes it.  We are so proud to be this guy's parents and can't wait to see what his future holds!
